PRP: The Answer to More Youthful Skin

Are you concerned about your skin? Does your skin look dull or dry? Are wrinkles, fine lines, and discoloration making you look prematurely aged? Millions of people are concerned about aging skin and their appearance changing because of it. But there's good news — we can turn back time with innovative regenerative treatments like platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy.

Lilly Phillips, MD, and our team here at Grace Family Health offer various aesthetic treatments, including PRP therapy at our offices in Murrieta and Menifee, California. Our goal is to help you look and feel incredible with state-of-the-art therapies to rejuvenate and plump.

The incredible power of platelets

PRP therapy is a type of regenerative medicine, which means it triggers your ability to create new cells and repair tissue. Platelets are the powerhouse in PRP therapy. These blood cells carry the proteins and growth factors your body needs to repair itself. PRP therapy floods your body with the nutrients it needs.

We often combine PRP with microneedling to increase the stimulation of your healing response. Microneedling creates thousands of tiny, microscopic injuries across the surface of your skin. This also triggers your healing response and increases collagen production. In turn, your skin looks plumper, and its elasticity is improved.

What happens during PRP therapy?

We begin by drawing a small amount of your blood. We then separate it in a centrifuge which concentrates the platelets, which we mix back in with your plasma, creating the PRP serum.

Then, using a state-of-the-art microneedling device, we combine microneedling and PRP therapy to stimulate your skin. PRP enhances the process of regenerating fresh, healthy skin tissue, giving you a more youthful appearance. In addition to PRP's rejuvenating effects, it also helps to decrease post-treatment symptoms like redness or swelling.

Your appointment only takes about an hour. You need 30 minutes for the topical anesthetic to start working, and another 30 minutes for the procedure itself. Most patients have a series of treatments to reach their cosmetic goals — in most cases, three to six sessions can restore your youthful appearance.

Amazing results and aftercare

The combination of microneedling and PRP can reduce the appearance of acne scarring, age spots, wrinkles, or uneven pigmentation. However, the combination treatment isn't right for everyone. Pregnant women, people who are taking certain medications, or those who scar easily, might be better off with one of our other aesthetic treatments.

However, for most people, microneedling with PRP provides an easy way to rejuvenate and refresh your skin.

It would be best if you avoided the sun before and after each microneedling and PRP treatment. You may experience some mild redness or swelling, but these minor side effects usually fade away quickly. You should use gentle skincare products, avoiding alcohol-based products, and exfoliants after your treatments.

If you're curious about PRP therapy and microneedling and want to know if it's right for you, call our offices or schedule an appointment online today.
